Classes Available

Below are brief descriptions of classes I can share with you.  Please visit my Facebook page for upcoming class information or send me a message to request a custom class. I would really enjoy being a resource for your fiber educational experiences, whether in a small group setting or a larger seminar.

Basketry

I primarily teach splintwoven basketry techniques. I have beginning classes and progressively more difficult classes to increase skill level.

Examples of baskets you could learn to weave are muffin basket, berry basket, weed basket, market basket, yarn basket.

More advanced students may want to start exploring a more creative approach to basketry in my art basket classes.

 Jewelry

At this time, my jewelry classes include felted jewelry and bead weaving.  Both processes can be very creative and lend themselves to broaches, earrings, pendants, and bracelets.

Jewelry classes can be a fun group activity.

Felting

Felting is magical!  So many things can be done with hand felted pieces; such as scarves, bags, slippers, and other clothing items.

Techniques include wet felting, nuno felting and needle felting.

Papermaking

I love the idea of recycling paper scraps into new paper, so one of my classes is making paper pulp then using it for handcast paper items.

Another class I enjoy teaching is what I call, "Let's Make Prairie Paper."

This more traditional papermaking class takes the pulp to the next level by adding local vegetation such as grasses and seeds and then making some small sheets of paper using a deckle and mold.
